Un soldat britannique tué en Afghanistan

(BBC) A British serviceman has been killed in action in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence has said.
The soldier from the 1st Battalion The Rifles died from his wounds on Saturday after being hit by enemy fire.
He was killed while on foot patrol close to the District Centre of Sangin in Helmand Province.



His death takes the number of British forces to die since the start of operations in October 2001 to 142. Next of kin have been informed.

Commander Paula Rowe, spokeswoman for Task Force Helmand, said: "All members of Task Force Helmand are deeply saddened by the death of this brave soldier.
"We offer our sympathy, thoughts and prayers to his family, friends and comrades as they try to come to terms with their tragic loss."
